What is the difference between a paint sealant and a ceramic coating? +
A paint sealant is a synthetic polymer applied to the paint surface that lasts 3–6 months. It is applied mobile at your location on the same day as your detail — no drop-off, no cure time beyond an hour or two. A ceramic coating is a semi-permanent bond that lasts 2–5 years and requires a controlled indoor environment. Both protect paint; the sealant is the practical choice for vehicles on a regular detail schedule. The 19th Hole ceramic coating is available for longer-term protection.
How long does a paint sealant last? +
Typically 3–6 months. In the Sandhills region — with heavy UV exposure from long summers, pine pollen that etches finishes if left too long, and sandy road grime — we suggest re-applying every 3–4 months, which is also our recommended detail frequency. Adding the sealant to each detail keeps consistent protection on the paint year-round.
Can I add a paint sealant to any service? +
The sealant is available as an add-on to The Front Nine and The Full Round — both include iron decontamination and clay bar, which prepare the paint for proper sealant adhesion. It is not available as a standalone service or as an add-on to The Back Nine, since the exterior is not decontaminated in an interior-only detail.
Is a paint sealant the same as wax? +
Carnauba wax is a natural product that provides 4–8 weeks of protection. A synthetic paint sealant is a polymer-based product that lasts 3–6 months, produces a harder layer, and holds up better against UV, heat, and chemical exposure. For vehicles in the Sandhills region that get detailed every 3–4 months, a sealant outperforms wax on longevity and durability.
Does the sealant need to cure before I can drive? +
The sealant cures to the touch within the detail appointment window. You can drive immediately after. For best results, avoid washing the vehicle for 24 hours after application to let the polymer layer fully bond to the paint.
